BAM Construction Ltd secured the building works of the new office headquarters in Staines-upon-Thames for Royal London Asset Management who pre-let the building to Gartners (an IT company). We were successful in our tender to supply and install the commercial catering equipment for all the facilities within the building.
Humble Arnold Associates developed the design concept but we were not engaged to follow the full specification. As a BAM Category 1 supplier we were invited to assist in the development of the design and specification including the servery and café finishes and specifying the equipment conducive with Humble Arnold Associates specification.
BAM were contracted to do the shell and core of the building and had to use the existing drainage on site which was raised and concealed in access floors. We were asked to assist with the design for the M&E to assist with the main infrastructure as the kitchen, café and beverage areas were located on the 4th floor. Due to the shell already being complete, the only access to the 4th floor was via 1no shared lift which was also being used by other onsite trades.
In order to check that site was ready for our installation to start, another visit was made to check that services were in place and the areas were prepared ready for the equipment to be installed. A report was written and sent to the QS to advise them of some outstanding items that needed addressing prior to our installation.
We liaised with the shop fitter for the 2no café areas to ensure the equipment was capable of fitting into the specially made units.
There was a total of 16no variations to this project to include additional and omitted items due to changes to the original contract and requirements.
A programme of works was devised around a 3 week installation period. This included the involvement of our subcontractors with any outstanding minor works completed when commissioning was done.
